Vattenfall and TAURON Power Companies Achieve Success with STATISTICA

Two European electric power companies have announced successful results of STATISTICA integrations for purposes of data mining, forecasting, and consulting.

Vattenfall logo PolandVattenfall Distribution Poland S.A. in Gliwice, a subsidiary of Swedish-owned Vattenfall A.B., commissioned StatSoft Polska Sp. z o.o. to perform statistical and empirical analysis on representative data describing multiple parameters of a low voltage power nework. Use of representative data, collected via a SONET system, allowed for extrapolation of analytics results across the entire network. According to Vattenfall’s Deputy Director of Network Maintenance, Miroslaw Janik, this approach made it “possible to reduce considerably the costs and time of this project…without the need to check all our network appliances on location.” READ MORE >>

Tauron logo PolandAnother power distribution company, Tauron Dystrybucja S.A. in Krakow, selected STATISTICA Data Miner to forecast electric energy supplies while accounting for such details as territorial division, consumer segmentation, voltage levels, and contractual amounts. The company’s Director of Distribution Services Sales, Grzegorz Marek, expressed pleasure not only with Data Miner’s accuracy, but also with StatSoft’s four-day dedicated training. “Due to our substantial expert knowledge of forecasting issues, and owing to StatSoft’s supplemental expertise,” says Marek, “we are now able to prepare forecasts whose accuracy surpasses that of the Microsoft Office tools which we had been using.” READ MORE >>
